Through 9 weeks of the 2020 season the Steelers have looked to be a legit Super Bowl contender.
They came into the season with some pretty big question marks that had most people ranking them in the middle of the league. Will Big Ben return to his old self after his season-ending elbow surgery last year? Or will he get hurt and miss more time? Will Juju return to a WR1? Will James Conner stay healthy? What about all-pro Minkah Fitzpatrick and stud LB TJ Watt? Will they be able to play at the same level as last year and keep the elite defense rolling?
The answer to these questions (so far) has been a resounding yes. Big Ben has been playing like his old self again. Juju has been playing a huge role and is ecstatic to have his QB back. James Conner has 4 games with over 100 rushing yards so far. TJ Watt is looking like a DPOY candidate, and Minkah Fitzpatrick already has a pick-6.
Although things have not always gone according to plan for the Steelers this year (almost blowing a 20 point lead to the Titans), they have come into the season with a chip on their shoulder. They’ve already had a wrench thrown at them and we’re forced to have their bye week early due to Titans players and coaching staff having positive COVID-19 tests. How did they respond? Well, they came back and embarrassed Cleveland (in true Pittsburgh fashion) 38-10, and then went and beat those same number 1 seed Titans in Tennessee.
All in all, the Steelers are 10-0 and are looking like true contenders.
