Currently the Patriots sit at 6-7, with three games remaining, all against divisional opponents. Now they do have a 2% chance, (que the Dumb & Dumber meme), but the road to the playoffs is slim at best. Razor slim.
They’ll start with a road game in Miami (8-5), where the Patriots couldn’t even win with Tom Brady at the helm. Not to mention, the Patriots are currently 2-5 on the road this season. That doesn’t seem like a recipe for success in Week 15. Winning this week seems highly unlikely, but on the off-chance they do win, that would bring their record to 7-7 going into a highly anticipated week 16 Monday Night showdown with the Buffalo Bills (10-3).
We all remember what happened the last time the Patriots played the Bills….just put the ball in the other hand Cam!! Could have, should have, would have, but didn’t. There is absolutely no chance this Patriots team goes into Buffalo in the middle of December, and walks out with a W! (Que the Vince McMahon music)
Now sitting at 7-8, the road to the playoffs in now nonexistent. The week 17 game home against the lowly New York Jets (0-13) is meaningless, right?! Not so fast! Hear me out on this one…..what if……the Patriots just happen to “accidentally” lose to the J-E-T-S? What would the ramifications of handing the winless Jets their first win? There actually is something huge that would happen in this scenario, and it is what every Patriots fan across the world should want for Christmas…..and that is not having to face Trevor Lawrence twice a year for the next decade plus. This is, of course, assuming that the Jaguars don’t win another game. How amazing would it be if the Patriots let the Jets win this matchup and ruin their chances at the #1 spot in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft?
If this scenario were to happen, it would make this train-wreck of a season so much better in my eyes. This is what I want for Christmas, this is what every Patriots fan should want. It’s the least Bill could do for all of us who have sat through this dismal season. There is little to no hope left in the tank this year for Patriots fans, so why not have a little fun at the expense of Jets fans happiness. I feel like the Scrooge of the NFL writing this, but oh well. Bah Humbug.
